Istoric
Liceul "Unirea" a luat fiinţă la data de 7 ianuarie 1866 prin Ordinul Domnesc nr. 26512 din 10 august 1865, fiind prima unitate de învăţământ secundar din această zonă şi între primele din România.
Peste doi ani, gimnaziul avea deja patru clase şi un mic corp profesoral preocupat de strângerea materialului didactic: aparatură pentru fizică şi chimie, colecţii pentru geografie, istorie şi ştiinţele naturii, o colecţie de monede vechi. Tot atunci se pun şi bazele bibliotecii, cu cele 45 de volume donate de elevi. (În prezent în bibliotecă se numără peste 30.000 de volume)
Die Geschichte vom Nationalkollegium „Unirea“
Das Lyzeum “Unirea” entstand am 7.Januar 1866 durch den herrschaftlichen Befehl Nr. 26512 vom 10. August 1865 und ist die erste sekundäre Unterrichtsinstitution aus dieser Gegend und unter den ersten aus Rumänien.
Nach 2 Jahren hatte die Schule schon 4 Klassen und ein kleines Lehrteam, das mit dem Sammeln des Lehrmittels beschäftigt war: Apparatur für Physik und Chemie, Sammlungen für Erdkunde, Geschichte und Naturwissenschaften, eine Sammlung von alten Münzen. Damals entstand auch die Bibliothek, mit den 45 Bänden, von Schülern gespendet. (Jetzt hat man in der Bibliothek über 30.000 Bände).

Il liceo “Unirea” è nato il 7 gennaio 1866 per l’Atto Principesco numero 26512 di 10 agosto 1865, essendo la prima unità d’insegnamento secondario di questa regione e tra le prime unità dalla Romania.
Fra due anni, il ginnasio aveva già quattro classi ed un picolo corpo professorale preoccupato dalla collezione del materiale didattico: apparecchiatura per fisica e chimia, collezioni per geografia , storia e scienze naturali, una collezione di monete antiche. Sempre allora si mettono anche le basi della biblioteca, con i 45 tomi donati dagli allievi. In presente in biblioteca sono sopra 30.000 tomi.
L’historique du Collège National «Unirea»
Le lycée « Unirea » a été fondé le 7 janvier 1866 par l’Ordre Princier numéro 26512 du 10 août 1865 comme premier établissement d’enseignement secondaire de cette région et parmi les premiers de Roumanie.
Dans deux ans, le gymnase avait déjà quatre classes et un petit corps enseignant préoccupé par l’accumulation du matériel didactique: appareillage pour la physique et la chimie, des collections pour la géographie, l’histoire et les sciences naturelles, une collection de monnaies anciennes. À la meme époque on a fondé aussi la bibliothèque, grâce aux 45 tomes donnés par les élèves. (La bibliothèque compte actuellement plus de 30.000 volumes.)
The history of “Unirea” National College
“Unirea” National College came into being on the 7th of January 1866 through the Princely Order no. 26521 given on the 10th of August 1865, being the first school of secondary teaching from this area and one of the first in Romania.
Two years later, the gymnasium already had four classes and a small teaching staff, interested in gathering the didactic materials: devices for Physics, Chemistry, collections for Geography, History and Natural Sciences, a collection of old coins. At the same time the Library was founded, with its 45 volumes, donated by the students. (At the present moment there are over 30.000 of volumes in the library)
The school functioned without its own building till 1880, when the construction of the building started, and the name is changed from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” in “Unirea” Gymnasium.
Between1884-1885, the fifth grade reappeared, and in the next years the gymnasium changed into college. This fact was of utterly importance, taking into account that in the whole area between Buzău and Bârlad there was no other similar school.
After long waiting periods, in the year 1900, the college moved in the present building, built according to architect Băicoianu’s plans.
